 IS MAIL-IN VOTING IN PLACE?

NO

Election Day

PROBLEM: The April 2020 primary

was conducted entirely by mail – silencing too many voters.

  • The day before the March 17 primary, Governor Mike DeWine sought to delay the election until June

  • A back-and-forth between his administration and the courts lasted through the evening, but at 2 AM, the Supreme Court held that Gov. DeWine and his Secretary of State could delay the election

  • The legislature determined that instead of delaying to June, the primary would be conducted in April, but entirely by mail

  • The volume of absentee ballot requests was unprecedented, and because of staffing shortages and procedural issues with the Post Office, some voters’ ballots never arrived. And over 300 votes were simply not counted because the Post Office failed to deliver them.
