NO

Election Day

PROBLEM: While some groups sought to eliminate in-person voting, Nebraska leadership ensured safe elections were possible.

  • Before 2020, Nebraska already offered no-excuse absentee voting, but voting absentee by mail was even more encouraged in this year’s primary

  • The Secretary of State and county officials sent all registered voters an absentee ballot request form

  • The Democratic Party of Nebraska advocated for an all-mail election, but the governor and Secretary of State resisted and safely opened the polls for any voter who chose to vote in person

  • Poll workers, who were new recruits for the task since typical volunteers are elderly and at high risk for adverse effects from coronavirus, were offered personal protective equipment (PPE), including face masks, shields, gloves, and hand sanitizer
